Real name Aconcagua Ojos del Salado Nevado Sajama Parinacota Acamarachi Ritacuba Blanco Chimborazo Huascarán Pico Bolívar something something something, Andy is a hat of irresistible panache who transcends philosophy of mind. Custom made for Hayden's father by one of the world's most esteemed & gifted tailors, he was enchanted with a peculiar & powerful spell (not to be confused with The Gift of Life) that has only been mastered by one unnamed mage, giving him life and transforming him from an ordinary piece of headwear into a living, breathing entity. Whether he is a soul reincarnated as a hat or a hat somehow possessed by a demon or something else entirely remains to be unveiled, but one thing is certain: it's not often that folks have the pleasure of meeting a non-taciturn garment, and Andy continues to rouse the curiosity, suspicion, and fascination alike of many.
Andy doesn't strive for much other than living up to his reputation of being the most fabulous piece of headwear. But despite always sitting pretty atop his wearer's head, he has been bestowed with the moral obligation of protecting his wearer, a sworn oath he has promised to fulfill. It is his bound duty to watch over and keep Hayden safe after being handed down to the budding cowboy witch by his father. Andy serves not only as a trusted confidant & mentor to Hayden, but also a best friend. The magic coursing through the hat's fabric protects Hayden in a way that remains a mystery.
While it is very rare to see Andy & Hayden apart, the hat does not always need to be worn. But Andy cannot be far from his wearer for very long without “drying up”, as he calls it, so Hayden (sometimes somewhat begrudgingly) takes him along everywhere he goes.
Sassy, stylish, good-looking, and self-aware, with the the same penchant for danger & adventure as his wearer, Andy is a hat who makes a bold statement (literally, whenever he can).

Andy is the epitome of the trope that the cowboy hat is (arguably) the cowboy's most distinguishing & defining attributes. Andy is such an iconic part of Hayden's character that he became his own character.
A Hat of Many Hats
Andy possesses the magic ability to shapeshift. Into what, you might ask? Why, into other types of hats, of course! This skill is particularly useful for when Hayden needs to lie low or sell a disguise but can't ditch his hatty companion.
Not Your (Ordinary) Hat
If any other being aside from his chosen wearer (in this case Hayden) tries to wear Andy, they will immediately be cursed with a horrible string of bad luck until they take him off.
Hats Off to Being Invincible
Andy is immortal, and with the protective magic he was enchanted with, he cannot be destroyed through typical means. So if you were to light him aflame, use him as a chew toy, or toss him into quicksand, he might complain (loudly), but he won't necessarily ‘die’. There is only one true, real way to vanquish the hat.

A Cowboy Witch's Best Friend
Hayden has made a habit of taking Andy with him whenever he heads out. Whether it's embarking on a grand adventure into the unknown or going into town for groceries & simply running errands, the suave hat can surely always be spotted resting comfortably atop his cowboy witch's noggin. Andy needs to be with Hayden all the time not only to protect him, but also to keep himself from “drying up”. However, Andy does not always need to be worn, and can be taken off whenever & for whatever reason, so long as he remains somewhat within Hayden's close vicinity. While at home with Hayden, Andy does not need to be worn at all and can sit anywhere he pleases within the cabin, so Hayden will usually take him off. The magic of the cabin alone is enough to keep Andy “moisturized”. This is why when Hayden leaves the cabin to go somewhere, Andy must come with him, as Hayden blows out the candle, or turns off the magic, whenever he's planning on being away from home.
